Roberta Mae Wernick, 87 of Traverse City, while attended by members of her family, passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure and Kidney failure at Munson Medical Center, Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:16am. She was born in Morton Ill. on October 20 1931.

She married Ernest Leroy Wernick on October 8, 1950 and together they raised five children. Leatha Keith (Ken), Robin (Bonnie), Penney Gavigan , Martin (Autumn),and Erna Beard (Jared). She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 12 ½ great grandchildren and 2 Great- great grandchildren

Roberta was first of all a homemaker and mother to five children, to whom she affectionately referred to as “Damn Kids” and her favorite phrase. “GO PLAY OUTSIDE” will echo in their memories forever. She spent many hours and took great pride in teaching her grandchildren to “stay within the lines”.

She was an award winning Atrex and TriChem instructor and demonstrator for over 35 years.

Roberta loved attending Country and Western concerts, where she could meet her favorite performers to collect their autograph or take a photo with them. She was a devoted Wayne Newton fan, (Wayniac) and a self-proclaimed “Granny Groupie”.

In her later years, after staying at Tendercare, Assisted Living Facility while recovering from hip surgery, Roberta (Bertie), made many friends. After her recovery, she returned to Tendercare to serve many volunteer hours.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, brother, half-sister, son in law, sister in law, and sister.
