Ronald L Akers,

Ron, 54 of Interlochen passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2017. He leaves behind his wife Debbie of 28 years; his daughter, Casandra Akers; his stepson, Lee Lowell; father, Jack “Irene” Akers of Traverse City; brother, Dave Akers of Traverse City; grandson, Blake Smith and his mother, Chelsea Smith of Traverse City; his in-laws, Richard and Sandra MacConnel of Traverse City; 4 sister and brother in-laws, Brenda and Rick Rattray, Lori and Ed Boomer, Angela and Dan MacConnel, Melinda MacConnel all of Traverse City and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Shirley Akers of Traverse City and his grandparents.

Ron was always there for anyone and everyone regardless of whether he knew you or not. Ron didn’t know the word NO! He was a fun-loving man who liked to have a good time. Ron loved his camp omelette and his KLT Family dearly. He was an all-out fun loving social man. One of Ron (AKA GRUMPY’s and DoRon) favorite things to do was spending time with his grandson Blake. Grumpy had many hobbies including Camping, riding his motor cycle, Demo Derby, Figure 8 racing, and especially scrapping.

Grumpy will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Family asks that in place of flowers donations may be given to Sandra MacConnel to help cover any expenses that may occur.

A visitation will be held 1pm to 3:45pm, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Life Story Funeral Home, where a brief military service will be held at 3:45 pm. A luncheon will follow.
