Ronald Gordon

Ronald John Gordon, 72 of Traverse City, died peacefully with his sons by his side, January 6, 2022.

He was born on July 25, 1949 in Traverse City the son of Charles Albert and Dorothy Marie (Sieffert) Gordon. He graduated from Traverse City High School.

He served two years in the Navy as a seaman.

Ron married Janice “Janny” Gordon the love of his life on November 29, 1969.

Ron worked at DTE for many years, wearing many hats, from meter reader, field technician, foreman inspector and was very proud to bring natural gas to much of Northern Michigan. Ron retired in the office. He also delivered newspapers for the Record Eagle.

Ron was a member of the Traverse City Church of the Nazarene. He was instrumental in helping to create the Grace Pointe Café and the church community meal program.

Ron was an avid Golfer and enjoyed going to the Casino. He often loved showing up at his kid’s campsite to cook breakfast. Most of all, he loved being with his family and grandchildren. Ron spent many nights with his wife and close friends dancing to Country Music.

Ron is survived by his sons, Jeff (Katrina) Gordon and Jason (Kathryn) Gordon; grandchildren, Josh Gordon, Kerri (Edward) Botello, Keegan Gordon, Samantha Gordon, Caleb (Alisha) Gordon, Kelsey Gordon, Mackenzie (Brennan) Gavlinski and Cayden Gordon; 11 great-grandchildren and siblings, Charles (Pamela) Gordon, Kathy Gordon and Bill Gordon.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Janice “Jan” Gordon, who died on July 5, 2016 and his father and mother in-law, Orv and Phyllis Manville.

Memorial services will be held 11 am, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Traverse City First Church of Nazarene, 1023 S. Division St. The family will greet friends starting at 10 am.
