Roque Christian Joseph Torres, a proud veteran of the Army, passed away on August 4, 2025. Roque is the son of Antonio Torres and Mary DeArmond.

At the age of 18, Roque enlisted in the Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. As part of this service, Roque served in the 82nd Airborne Division and the Berlin Brigade. He earned his Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, jump wings, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Roque is survived by his wife and best friend, Kasey Torres, and his daughter, Danielle Torres. Roque’s loved ones will remember Roque as a God-fearing patriot, a righteous, loyal, faithful, hard-working and protective husband, father and friend. For those that “really” knew Roque, they had the privilege of experiencing his jovial sense of humor and the fact that he was somewhat of a pizza snob. He loved collecting firearms and all sorts of military artifacts. He was proud of the home that he established in Traverse City, Michigan, with his wife, daughter, Leo the pug and two cats. (Yes – Roque was a cat guy.) Roque thought that Traverse City is the best place to live because the people are so nice.

A graveside service honoring the life of Roque Torres will be held at 4pm on

Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, 3575 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan. Following the graveside service, a memorial gathering will be held at the VFW Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please make a donation in the memory of Roque Torres to the VFW Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.
