Sallie Ann (Lewis) Majerle, 82, of Traverse City, died October 22, 2020.

She was born on July 14, 1938 in Grand Rapids, Michigan at “exactly 5:59 P.M.” and started celebrating every birthday at “exactly 5:59 P.M.”!!

She was the daughter of Maynard and Ruth (Dunsmore) Lewis.

Sallie always said that she was a Gypsy at heart, never settling in one spot for very long until she met the love of her life, Frank Majerle. They were married in Cadillac on June 8, 1963 and planted their roots in Traverse City where they raised their 3 sons, Steve (Ruth) Majerle of Belmont, Dan Majerle and Jeff Majerle both of Phoenix, Arizona. They had nine grandchildren, Ryan (Jackie) Majerle, Jessica (Cody) Majerle, Jason (Regan), Sara Majerle, Madison Majerle, McKenzie Majerle, Mia Majerle, Max Majerle and Mason (Maddie) Majerle; one great-grandson, Micah and was waiting the birth of her 1st great-granddaughter.

Sallie and Frank enjoyed many adventures together and they were always following the “bouncing basketball”, being a basketball family with all three sons and grandsons involved in the sport, they rarely missed a game.

Sallie owned and operated Hickory Stitches in Traverse City and after retiring from years in the secretarial field and with her love of stitching she couldn’t sit idle, so she opened Stitching with Sallie on Hammond Rd.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on February 16, 2015; her parents, Maynard and Ruth Lewis; Frank’s parents, Frank Sr and Helen Majerle; Frank’s sisters, Mary Ann and Frances “Sis.”

Sallie requested no service; her life will be celebrated in private by her immediate family.

“Loved you once, love you still, always have, always will.” We are sure that Sallie and Frank’s spirits have found each other again.
