Services for Sgt. Walter H. “Babe” Tobin Jr. will be held 11am, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Life Story Funeral Home; where the family will greet friends starting at 10 am. Private family burial will be held.

Babe attended Empire School and graduated from the Ford Trade School in Detroit in 1945. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing mechanical work. He enlisted in the Army September 14, 1948 for a three year period, taking basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was sent to Japan on June 7, 1950, and to Korea September 7, 1950.

He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 2, 1950 at the Chosin Reservoir, Korea. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His official date of death is December 2, 1950.

His remains were returned from North Korea June 2018 and identified August 5, 2019.

He was dearly loved by his mother, father, brothers, sister and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Babe is survived by his nieces, cousins and friends.

Babe preceded the death of his parents, Walter Fred and Helen M. Tobin and siblings, Ned, Lester and Catherine.
