Terri Lihou, 59, of Traverse City passed away after an extended illness on September 7, 2023

Terri was born on December 5, 1963, in Sault Ste Marie, MI to the late Merlin and Ruth (Gady) Lihou. The family moved to Traverse City in 1969. She graduated from Traverse City Senior High in 1983.

Terri was a fun person; a hard worker, athlete and adventurer who enjoyed being outside, completing home projects, doing puzzles, kayaking, camping, hiking, mushroom hunting and spending time with friends. Terri enjoyed football and was on the Green/White side, cheering for MSU. There is a rumor that Terri was involved in a Superbowl Squares pool for nearly 20 years. But we find it hard to believe Terri would be involved in any illegal activities.

Terri’s favorite place to travel was the U.P., and she roamed all over up there. When Terri learned about her illness in summer of 2020, she took Tim McGraw’s lyrics to heart, and decided to Live Like You Were Dying. With her continued appetite for adventure, she made it to a few more places on her bucket list: Glacier National Park, Hocking Hills State park, Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower…

Terri was close to her family. She did not have children of her own, but was a special Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She was happy to have the chance to help her sister, Sarah raised Hunter, and was very close to both of them. Terri is survived by her siblings, Bill (Colleen) Lihou, Dennis Lihou, and Sarah (Michael) Mack of Traverse City; her nephews, Joseph (Michelle) Lihou of Norton Shores, MI, Collin (Lauren) Lihou of Denver, CO, Hunter Lihou of Traverse City, and Josh Wilson of Traverse City; her nieces, Bailey (Zak) Pater of Traverse City and Hannah Wilson of Coos Bay, OR ; her great-nieces, Mackenzie Lihou and Rowan Pater; and her great-nephews, Miles Lihou, Joseph Lihou, and Cooper Lihou. Terri is also survived by her loyal dog, 16 year old Dug the pug.

Terri is preceded in death by her infant sister, parents, grandparents, and brother Ken ‘Tuna' Lihou.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 :00– 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at The Fraternal Order Of Eagles, 409 W. 14th St., Traverse City, MI
