Velma Ruth Salenski, 90 of Traverse City, died Saturday, February 22, 2020.

She was born on January 5, 1930 in Traverse City the daughter of Adolf and Blanche Vivian (Monroe) Kevwitch. Velma was raised on the local family farm and grew up to care for and have a special love for animals

Velma retired from United Technology, where she worked on the assembly line.

She was an avid gardener for many years. Her neighbors remember her beautiful flowers. She enjoyed sewing, canning and her family. Her sons report she was an amazing mother, always putting her sons first and never complaining.

Velma is survived by her sons, Robert Salenski, Steven (Karen) Salenski and Jerry (Cheri) Salenski; several grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd (Gladys) Kevwitch; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister; Margaret; brothers, Clayton, Alfred, Donald, Alvin and daughter-in-laws, Rose and Lynn.

An informal visitation will be held 2pm to 4pm Monday, February 24, 2020 at Life Story Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank the staff at French Manor and Hospice of Michigan for their loving care for Velma. She is loved by many.
