Vicki Kay Keeling, 82, of Traverse City died Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

She was born on June 13, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas the daughter of Victor Allen and Muriel Lucille (McCamey) Darling.

She married John Alfred Keeling on February 2, 1962, at the home of her parents in Perry, Michigan.

Vicki was a wonderful wife, lover, parent and sailing partner. A skilled artist in her pottery studio and her fabric art endeavors. Family members and friends’ homes are filled with her art.

She loved to travel and explore new areas. She spent a year traveling in an old Airstream over the USA and Canada with her husband John and her 12-year-old poodle, Daisy.

Vicki was a “Women’s Libber” from an early age and mentored several young women who followed her path.

Gardening was a passion of hers that resulted in flowers blooming indoors and out. It always reminded us to stop and smell the flowers.

Vicki is survived by her husband, John A. Keeling; children, John V. Keeling, Laura (Ernie) Ploof, and Matthew (Barbara) Keeling; grandchildren, Joshua Davidson, Keeling Ploof, Hannah Ploof and Elizabeth Keeling; great-grandson, Joey Brazzet and sister, Rebecca Darling.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Joshua David Keeling; brothers, Jimmy and Jerry Darling.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Northern Michigan Alzheimer Association.

A memorial for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Her wish was to have her remains be left at her favorite Lake Michigan Beach.
