Life Story / Obituary
Wallace “Wally” Warren Miller Jr., age 92, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025 in Rockford, MI. Wally was born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 4, 1933, to Wallace Warren Miller Sr. and Ganna Francis (Lipski) Miller.
Wally graduated from Creston High School and then earned an Associate’s Degree at Davenport College. Wally married his high school sweetheart, JoEllen “Jo” Strong, on April 16, 1955. They were able to make their 66 years together packed full of fun and great memories.
Wally was the former owner of Cambridge Manufacturing in Grand Rapids, MI. He lived in many different cities, but probably would say Marco Island, FL and Traverse City, MI were his favorite places to be. Wally enjoyed golfing, tennis, boating, traveling, winning at the casino and watching sports and historical movies. Wally was also a member of the Elks Lodge.
Wally’s jokes and stories will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters; Janice Miller, Susan (Jeffrey) Gehres, grandchildren; Matthew Spangler, Scott (Monica) Spangler, Michael (Ashley) Gehres, Bradley (Ana) Gehres, Kailey Gehres
and great grandchildren; Willa, Ozzy and Macie Jo. Wally is survived by his sisters, Donna (Andy) Valdmanis and Mary Miller, many nieces and nephews and his long-time friend, Barb Struik. Wally was preceded in death by his “sweetie”, Jo, their daughter, Beth (Ted) Wolthuis, and Wally’s sisters, Carol Szczepaniuk and Sue Petkus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, a charity that was important to Wally.
A very special thank you to the wonderful Laurus Home Care team at StoryPoint Rockford and his CorsoCare Hospice team for their care and support. Our dad really thought of you all as family.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Wally will be laid to rest at the Yuba Cemetery in Williamsburg, MI.
